Zebrano (Brachystegia fleuryana)
Family – Leguminosae
Distribution – Gabon and Cameroons
Other Names: Zebra Wood
Characteristics: A decorative wood, light gold in colour, with narrow streaks that are dark brown to almost black. The surface is lustrous, and the texture somewhat coarse. The wood is hard and heavy weighing around 750Kg/m3 when dried.
Working Qualities: The wood saws fairly easily but may be difficult to plane. Pre-drilling when fixing will be necessary. It glues well and can be polished to a fine finish.

Uses: Used mostly as a decorative veneer, but can also be used for furniture and cabinet-making. When used as a veneer, it is popular as a cross banding for inlay work or in larger sections for paneling.
